The Glory Hath Departed

Hello, My name is Gary and I am a dying breed. I’m in my mid 40’s, fifth generation American citizen, happily married, have two grown kids, a nice house with two vehicles, ride a motorcycle, middle class, self employed construction trade worker for 25 years and working towards my Graduate studies in Biblical Theology- and there are some things I’ve noticed that I need to share with you today.

What has happened to The United States of America? The greatest country in the world; How did we get to the position that we are in as a nation today? I fear, deep down in our heart of hearts, we know the answer. Tell me; when you were going to school, did you worry about being shot throughout the school day? The thought really never crossed my mind. How has society decayed so greatly in such a short span of time?

I firmly believe this all had its roots about 40 years ago. Remember when we, as a nation asked God to get out of our schools? No more prayer; No more pledge of allegiance in the morning (one nation under God- remember that?) What about the decay of the institution of marriage where so many families have been separated and destroyed. These seeds were sown well off in the past. We are now reeping what has been sown- tenfold! Consider the violent and/or deviant sexual television shows that constantly lower the bar of morality as well as the explicit, murderous video games that a nation of impressionable children have been raised on. What else should we expect for being absentee parents?

I know what you’re thinking, “He’s going to say we should get back to church.” Well, of course, that’s NOT the answer. Now, more than ever, the weak, no substance message, hum-drum dry church has sat idly by and has become as much of the problem as the world is. Most modern, feel good, joy boy so called ministers can’t seem to spend enough time with The Lord to keep the congregation’s attention for 30 minutes, much less give people something to hang on to for the upcoming week. Unbiblical female pastors (Really? How can a woman be a “husband of one wife? 1 Timothy 3:2), openly homosexual ministers (Has anyone read Romans chapter 1 lately?), and rock and roll worship that exalts the performers more than God. Just put in your hour once a week, give a check and you’re OK? We have also succeeded in murdering the unborn to the tune of 50 million at last count as well as endorsing the abomination of homosexual marriage. This is not what the vast majority of our founding fathers had in mind and it’s sure not what God had blessed our country in the past for either.

Why is it when you ask someone about, “Who can you name that signed the Declaration of Independence?” The only two most can name are Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin? (Of course, the two least godly of the bunch) Seventeen of the original signers of The Declaration were ordained ministers- all of whom gave complete Lordship to Jesus Christ and honored God. The first Continental Congress opened with a three hour Bible study on Psalm 34. Somehow, that has conveniently been erased from history. We have strayed so very far that we have happily exchanged God’s truth for a gross lie! We have asked God to simply, “Get out of our business,” and God, being an absolute gentleman may have very well departed. There is a certain scripture that has haunted me recently. The verse comes from 2 Chronicles 7:14 and the Word of God says, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” Do you notice the, “IF” at the beginning of the verse? Not only do the ungodly not seek The Lord, but sadly many of the people that call themselves Christians don’t either.

Where does this leave us then? Basically, The United States is in deep trouble. I know, according to The Bible I have a heavenly home. I would be thrilled with the return of Jesus Christ today. I am however, sorrowful for those who have been misled by an evil, unbelieving world that will die in their sins and be ushered into the gates of hell to face everlasting punishment. That sure doesn’t sound very politically correct, does it? Too bad it’s the absolute solid truth. The King James Bible, The Word of God, which every evil dictator has attempted to destroy for hundreds of years tells me we will all spend eternity in one of two places. All the money, cars, houses, everything- goes back into God’s big box. Only what is done with The Son of God, Jesus Christ, will yield everlasting dividends. God is a “longsuffering” God, but I fear He is about done suffering with The United States- the nation He has blessed, that doesn’t seem to give Him reverence nor fear Him anymore- May God have mercy on us all…
